The Marvelously Dressed Men of The Avengers
After 10 years and 18 films, Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War will be the first in the franchise to bring all of its major players into one movie. It's going to be epic, emotional, and stressful as hell but one thing I am definitely looking forward to (beside's the movie itself), is the slew of press events leading up to its theatrical release. Our heroes will suit up for the red carpet and, if the cast of Black Panther set the tone for press tour attire, then we're certainly in for a treat!
As I'm sure you're all aware, Marvel Studios has a habit of casting some really, really, ridiculously good looking actors for their movies and, while I'm sure they will all look amazing, I want to focus on some of the guys who have proven, time and again, that they can work a suit and tie just as well as their superhero costumes. Menswear is having a serious moment and now, more than ever, male celebrities are embracing fashion and taking more risks with their style. From the first Avenger to the King of Wakanda, I have compiled my list of Marvel's Best Dressed Gents, in order of when their character appeared in the MCU.
Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man, 2008)
Robert Downey Jr. wore a Givenchy jewelled lapel tuxedo jacket to the Captain America: Civil War premiere in Paris. Styled by Jeanne Yang.
For years, Robert Downey Jr.'s style has had us wondering if he just dresses similarly to his on-screen alter ego or if Tony Stark dresses like RDJ. Regardless, at the hands of longtime stylist Jeanne Yang, he has managed to ace the marriage of streetwear and sophistication, exuding cool confidence wherever he goes. Often seen pairing graphic tees with his high end (and sometimes eclectic) suits- Etro, Commes des Garcons, and Givenchy among his frequented brands- Downey Jr. also has a penchant for funky sneakers, including beaded high tops from Marc Jacobs and floral printed ones from Christian Louboutin.

Chris Hemsworth (Thor, 2011)
Chris Hemsworth for Men's Journal, November 2017. Wearing a John Varvatos top, Paige denim, and Wolverine boots. Styled by Samantha McMillen.
Chris Hemsworth has come a long way from his Aussie surfer boy look that once graced the pages of teen magazines! However, he maintains that same laid back air, often wearing his dress shirts sans neck tie, with at least one button undone, and a tasteful amount of men's jewelry. Dressing a god with an athletic build who stands tall at 6'3" might seem like a daunting task, but stylist Samantha McMillen does so with ease and regularly lands him on Best Dressed lists.

Tom Hiddleston (Thor, 2011)
Tom Hiddleston and stylist Ilaria Urbinati, both in Gucci, pose for The Hollywood Reporter's 2017 Power Stylists issue.
Tom has been styled by Ilaria Urbinati since 2016 when they met on the set of his cover shoot for Esquire's June issue. As far as silhouette goes, Hiddleston keeps it pretty classic in slim fit, two-button suits, but Urbinati takes it to the next level by dressing him in unexpected colors, fabrics, and even mismatched patterns! The duo’s cover shot for The Hollywood Reporter’s 2017 Most Powerful Stylists issue had Hiddleston in a brown velvet suit at a boxing gym, no less. And one of Urbinati's favorite looks of 2017 was him in plaid Gucci at the LA premiere for Thor: Ragnarok.
Tom in plaid Gucci at the Thor: Ragnarok premiere in Los Angeles was one of Urbinati's favorite looks she styled for 2017.
Plaid on stripes on polka dots! Mixing prints had long been considered a fashion faux pas but Urbinati has pushed those limits and makes it look good!
Chris Evans (Captain America: The First Avenger, 2011)

Another one of Ilaria Urbinati's Marvel men is Captain America himself. She actually credits Chris Evans as being her first celebrity client, having dressed him since his Fantastic Four days! Evans is also one who teeters between identities, with probably the entire internet convinced that he is the real life Steve Rogers (I mean, he is). The All American Man seems to be his general aesthetic, though never in a cliche, tropey way. Whether in a cozy sweater or a three-piece suit, possibly the most appealing thing about Evans's style is that he seems approachable, like you could have a beer with him...

Sporting a slightly less formal look (albeit, still Gucci) for the People's Choice Awards in 2015. It gives me "Steve Rogers off-duty" vibes and I love it! Styled by Ilaria Urbinati.
Sebastian Stan (Captain America: The First Avenger, 2011)
Sebastian Stan striking a pose for the Vanity Fair portrait studio at the Oscars After Party. Wearing Tom Ford, styled by John Tan.
Sebastian Stan may be a man of few words as the Winter Soldier, but he has been speaking volumes with his fashion choices as of late and, honestly, I don’t think enough people have noticed! He and stylist Jon Tan have been bringing their A-game since the I, Tonya press tour and festival run. In the span of about 6 months Stan has rocked a blue velvet tuxedo jacket and single-handedly made me believe in turtlenecks again. He's proven to be quite the fashion chameleon and even landed himself front-row invitations to Calvin Klein, Tom Ford, and Hugo Boss at New York Fashion Week earlier this year.

Chadwick Boseman (Captain America: Civil War, 2016)
Ashley Weston, stylist, and Chadwick Boseman pose for their Hollywood Reporter cover story.
Chadwick Boseman and Ashley Weston are one of the most recent duos to get a cover for The Hollywood Reporter's Power Stylists Issue. Boseman says of his longtime stylist, “You have to have somebody that understands what your style is and what you’re willing to try. We found a really, really good synchronicity.” Their harmonious relationship has successfully dressed Boseman all over the world, most notably for the Black Panther press tour. The impressive threads she chose for him- including gold and black brocade Armani and zebra striped Givenchy- were certainly fit for a Wakandan king!
For the London premiere of Black Panther, Chadwick Boseman wore tiger striped Givenchy. Styled by Ashley Weston.
One of Weston's favorite looks that she's dressed Boseman in- this Dzojchen suit for the Black Panther premiere in Seoul, South Korea.
Tom Holland (Captain America: Civil War, 2016)
Tom Holland wearing Giorgio Armani and Converse for a Vogue party in London, February 2018. Styled by Law Roach.
Tom Holland only recently joined forces with stylist extraordinaire, Law Roach, and I've got to say, the collaboration has officially pushed Holland's style into manhood. The actor, now 21, is the youngest of the Marvel men and his journey within the MCU has only just begun. Roach's fearless fashion leadership is just what Holland needs to keep up with the big guys!
Holland was the first of Roach's male clients to attend the Academy Awards. Wearing custom Hermes.

Winston Duke (Black Panther, 2018)
Winston Duke wearing a Dolce & Gabbana shirt with suit from The Black Tux. Styled by Jenny Ricker.
Although new to the Marvel scene, M'Baku actor Winston Duke proved that he could dress with the best of them. In the short span of maybe two months, Duke breezed through Awards Season, the Black Panther press tour, and even attended New York Fashion Week- all while looking equal parts bold and sleek, thanks to the talents of his stylist, Jenny Ricker. I would definitely say that he is one to keep an eye on as his career grows and as his breakthrough character gets more screen-time in the MCU.
Winston Duke posted on his Instagram, "Feeling like a BILLION bucks!" dressed in Etro at the Oscars. Styled by Jenny Ricker.

Did your favorite Marvel actor make the list? Sound off in the comments! And be sure to follow along on the Instagram as I'm sure to be posting my favorite looks once the press tour kicks off!
Avengers: Infinity War opens in theaters on April 27, 2018.
